Trujillo is located in northern Peru along the coast. It is home to the many Lambayeque cultures, the most famous being the city of Chan Chan. Trujillo and its neighboring regions have a lot of history and older archeological sites compared to the rest of Peru. Since most tourists visit southern Peru it keeps the northern area relatively unique when visiting pre-Inca history and true anthro-tourism.

Day 1: Trujillo Tour & Chan Chan Citadel

Trujillo Tour: Guided tour to the archaeological metropolis of Chan Chan, which was once the ancient capital city of the Chimu Empire. It is the largest pre-Columbian city in South America, built entirely of mud and adobe brick. A stop is made at Huaca of the Dragon to visit the restored adobe pyramid and its unique designs. We will visit the archaeological museum to fully understand the history of the site.

Day 2: Trujillo Ancient Temples

Trujillo Temples: Tour of the "El Brujo" archaeological site, commonly called The Wizard. El Brujo was built by the Moche civilization which ruled from 100 CE to 800 CE. The site has several layers of various civilization time periods built over it that are still being discovered. We will also visit the temples of the sun and moon, which were the centers of civilization in northern Peru.
